Terms & conditions

Custom builds, repairs, upgrades and cleaning. Updated 17 October 2026.

Your statutory consumer rights are not affected. These terms do not limit rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or other applicable consumer law. Where these terms conflict with those rights, your legal rights take priority.

1. Quotes & approval

  • Every job is quoted first — you always know the price before any work starts.
  • No hidden fees — the price you accept is the price you pay, so it's never more than you agreed.
  • If anything needs changing or upgrading, we'll tell you first — it's fully your choice to accept.

Sending a request does not place a paid order. We confirm the agreed work, parts, price and estimated timescale in writing before you accept. Any changes or additional costs require your approval before we proceed. We will also provide the trader identity, contact address and any applicable cancellation information before you enter a contract.

2. Payment

Custom builds

How payment works

  • ▸A 30% deposit starts your build once you approve the quote.
  • ▸The balance is due when your computer is finished.
  • ▸If you cancel after parts are ordered, the deposit is kept to cover them.

Repairs

How payment works

  • ▸For repairs, full payment is required when you accept the quote.
  • ▸Work starts once payment is received.

Upgrades & tune-ups

How payment works

  • ▸A PC clean-up is £30 — anything else is quoted first.
  • ▸Full payment is required when you accept the quote.
  • ▸Work starts once payment is received.

The cancellation rules below qualify the deposit summary above; it is not an automatic non-refundable fee.

3. Custom-build warranty

Our workmanship warranty lasts 12 months from collection or delivery. It covers faults caused by how we assembled or configured your PC. We will assess a covered fault and put our workmanship right without charging for that work.

Parts also carry any applicable manufacturer warranty, with duration and conditions depending on the part. We will confirm available cover in your quote or handover information. Manufacturer cover does not replace your rights against us for goods we supply.

4. Repair warranty — repaired or replaced parts only

Our repair warranty lasts 90 days from collection or return of your PC. It covers the specific repair carried out and only the parts we repaired or replaced, as recorded in your job details or invoice.

This is not a warranty on the whole PC. Unrelated faults and components we did not repair or replace are not covered by this additional warranty. If the same fault returns because the agreed repair failed, contact us so we can inspect it and put a covered repair right without charge.

Replacement parts carry any applicable manufacturer warranty too. The 90-day limit does not restrict any longer-lasting statutory rights relating to our work or the parts we supplied.

5. Cleaning, tune-ups & upgrades

Cleaning and routine maintenance have no additional commercial warranty. We do not promise that dust will not return or that cleaning will resolve an unrelated hardware fault. We remain responsible for carrying out all services with reasonable care and skill.

Upgrade parts we supply carry any applicable manufacturer warranty. If there is a problem with our installation or other service work, contact us; your statutory rights to a remedy still apply. We will explain any limits relating to customer-supplied parts before work starts, without excluding responsibility for our own work.

6. What the additional warranties do not cover

They do not cover faults caused after handover by accidental or liquid damage, misuse, unsuitable power supplies, unauthorised overclocking, or changes made by another person. Normal wear, new malware infections and unrelated software changes are not covered unless caused by our supplied goods or work.

Opening the case or upgrading a component does not automatically void all cover. An exclusion only applies where the damage or change caused the fault being claimed. Nothing here excludes responsibility for our negligence or defective goods or services.

7. Cancellations & deposits

Contact us as soon as possible if you want to cancel. Where the law allows a cancellation charge, any amount retained from your deposit must reflect reasonable, evidenced net losses caused by your cancellation, allowing for returns, resale and costs saved. We will explain the calculation and refund any excess; no charge overrides a statutory right to cancel or obtain a refund.

For eligible online, telephone or off-premises orders, a 14-day cancellation period normally applies, starting from receipt of goods or from making a service contract. Goods genuinely made to your specifications or clearly personalised may be exempt, but selecting standard PC components does not automatically remove cancellation rights. We will confirm the position before you order.

If you want a service to start during a cancellation period, we will obtain your express request first. If you then cancel, a proportionate charge may apply for work already supplied where legally permitted. The right to cancel a fully performed service ends only where the required prior consent and acknowledgement have been obtained.

These cancellation provisions do not remove rights concerning faulty goods, unsuccessful repairs or work not performed with reasonable care and skill.

8. Your data & belongings

Please back up important files before handing over your PC and tell us about existing damage, sensitive data and any essential files. We will agree any work that could erase data before carrying it out. A backup request does not remove our responsibility for loss or damage caused by our failure to use reasonable care and skill.

We access your device only as needed for the agreed work. Please do not send passwords or payment details in job messages.

9. Reporting a problem

Message us through your account job thread or contact RockTech PC. Include your job reference, a description of the fault and when it appeared. We will discuss inspection and any return arrangements with you. You can raise a statutory claim even after an additional warranty expires.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
